What is a UAN or Universal Account Number?

The unique number does not change even if the person changes his/her job. People who have more than one account for provident funds can merge all their accounts into a single one.
How to activate the UAN?
Following steps need to be followed in order to activate a UAN-
Step 1- Visit the given URL-
Step 2- Select the option of Activate UAN given in the section of important links.
Step 3- Enter the required details on the next page such as UAN, name, mobile number, date of birth, email address, and captcha code.
Step 4- Click on the option Get Authorisation Pin option after entering all the details. You will receive a pin on your given contact number.
Step 5- Click on the option I Agree and fill in the OTP in the required space.
Step 6- Select the option named Validate OTP and Activate UAN.
Step 7- You will get an auto-generated password on your registered mobile number after the successful activation of UAN.
How can anyone find their UAN allotted to them?
There are two ways in which an individual can find the UAN that is allotted to them-
- An individual can acquire their Universal Account Number without any hassle through their salary or employer slip.
- On the other hand, people can visit the UAN member e-sewa portal and attain their UAN number by using their member ID or Provident Fund number by filling in the required details such as mobile number, name, email address, and date of birth. You can then proceed to Get Authorisation Pin after providing all the details. An OTP or authorization pin will be sent to your registered mobile number and then you need to validate the OTP and Get UAN. You will receive your unique Universal Account Number on your mobile number in a few minutes.
